SIKU - Porsche Carrera GT

This is a die cast car model of Porsche Carrera GT (Code: 980), a mid-engined sports car that was manufactured by Porsche between 2004–2007 in Leipzig, Germany. The Carrera GT is powered by a 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 PS (450 kW; 604 hp).

Obviously, not many can afford the real car but at least we can still afford this die cast scale model at around 1/55 scale from Siku. The cost in here is only SGD 6.00 (about USD 4.80 / EUR 4.00 / 375 Yen)

Exterior detailing and marking is quite decent, they use plastic for the head lamps and we can see quite a huge "Porsche" logo on the bonnet - I just thought that it's a little too big in fact;

Wheels and tires sculpt is quite decent as well - the tries are made of rubber;

On the rear part, we can see the tail lamps and brake lights are made using plastic parts as well which is good and we can see the car's model name "Carrera GT";

We also can see the "engine" of the car which is sealed though at first I do thought that maybe we can open up the cover and see the inside part;

This car model comes with openable doors;

And we can have a peep on the interior a little bit;

From the little that I can see, the interior detailing is great for a model at this miniature scale and considering the cheap price as well. At least it's better than those Hot Wheels and Tomica.

And then on underneath the chasis, some info about the car which is unique to this brand only (at least so far for now). We can see 612 PS (which means the horse power is 604hp), 450KW, maximum engine rev limit at 8,400 RPM, 5733ccm which means the engine is 5.7L and lastly 630 KM/H which is the top speed.

Overall, this is a brilliant die cast car model of Porsche Carrera GT with reasonable price tag. The paint job, exterior and interior detailing is very good and it would be better if the engine hood is openable but than that is not the case. This may not be the greatest miniature die cast for this model out there but I have not seen any other as good as this one for this particular model anyway. Maybe a brand called "Auto Art" can do a better job but their price would be 3 times higher.

Side by side with Mercedes Benz SLS;

  1. i like the work on this model, indeed the model itself is one of the best created by Porsche... the wheels design works perfect and i think its level of detail is very similar to that of the Maisto models... by the way, i found very attractive the previous model published (Mercedez 300SL) and the red accents in the decor make it look very nice !!!... =)
