1/144 HGUC Gundam GP03 Stamen (RX-78 GP03S)

So it's been 2 years since I last touch any GunPlaMoKit and it feels like an eternity and I'm certain that my already not so great skills wont get any better after such a long break.

Anyway, one of my good friend, Saiful Ahmad, gave me this GP03S as a birthday present for me recently and I have no choice but to get my hands working on this kit and surely this has bring back a lot of memory of not so long ago when I had plenty of toys and Gundams.... it was one of the most fantastic and fun period of my life.

It took me quite a long time... I guess around 6 hours in total to finish this kit, I noticed that now I'm a whole lot slower than I used to be - age factor, not enough sex and so on... LOL

So, let's review the completed kit... first the box:

And the manual...

And the "raw materials" LOL...

Can't find "proper" plamokit top coat in here, so I guess this will  do;

Yes it's not meant for plamokit, I think it's more suitable for cake and pastries LOL... anyway, that's what I use and the result is quite decent - for something that is not meant to be...

And so this is the Stamen, standing looking pleased with himself without any particular good reason;

This Stamen (that's what the S in the model means, read again: RX-78 GP03S) is from the anime OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory" series and so far it's one of my all time favorite within the "Gundam franchise" from the "UC" timeline because when you really look through the whole story, deep down, there is no real good and bad sides - in fact both the Earth Federation and the Zeonist have good and bad peoples within their organization and there are these few good men and women who tried to do good deeds despite the fact that they are surrounded but unrealistic motherfuckers who thought their ass would age like wine, getting better with age.

In this series, we also witness the rise of TITAN lead by "Mr. Bask Om" who I believed to be sell-fish in bed despite his utterly genuine macho-man looks. The TITAN become a powerful organization and being extremely racist (towards Zeonist and the rest of the people who disagree with their extremism) later caused civil war within the Earth Federation and the political instability then created AEUG - all this happening in Mobile Suite Zeta Gundam.

Yup, this is him - Mr. Bask Om, he seems to be "brown" in color...

More importantly, the beautiful and yet twisted sick fuck, two faces Cima Grahau, not many want to admit but she is indeed the main attraction of the series because Nina Purpleton is too blonde LOL. Cima Grahau had decent breast size, with not so bad body shape and with her hair as black as ebony, she is indeed far from ugly and I'm not surprise that she can be fun in bed.

This is the Lady Marmalade - Cima Grahau...

And then there is the Dendrobium, probably one of the most wonderful and gigantic war machinery created by the Earth Federation and I personally believed that particular machine inspired the designer to later created the Meteor (in Gundam Seed series) and GN Arms Type E (in OO Gundam series).

Many more other things we can discuss and talk about the "Stardust Memory" but I think the emergence of Cima Grahau as a brothel owner is certainly overwhelming and can be disturbing for our imagination thus it's better that we continue with this model kit review... LOL...

Articulation wise, this is an old kit, year 2001 - thus there is not much to mention about the articulation, so we skip that for now...

Apparently, I dislike the so called "foldable shield" that comes with this model, I just think it's ridiculous and I don't like the shape and the physics of it - plain simple...

Thus, I changed the shield into something that I believe more interesting and feminine - what ever, but at least I like the look of this shield that I customized;

And now a little bit of action pose;

Just like his 1/100 MG counterpart, the bazooka is one difficult thing to handle, so basically you don't have much option to with action pose, apparently even the bazooka is "foldable"...

Other notable features include the openable beam saber pot:

And now it's time for some beam saber:

And the other funky features on this Stamen is this "Claw" hidden on it's arm:

Bandai also supplied that fighter jet, what ever the name:

This Stamen is popular for being the only Gundam to ride the gigantic and yet sexist Dendrobium. Unfortunately, I don't have any Dendrobium, can't afford it... but at least I have this BMW 5 Series which is quite interesting and since GP03S able to handle Dendrobium so I guess this BMW 5 Series shouldn't be a problem for him, it comes standard with ABS, ESC, 6 airbags, touch screen multimedia system with GPS and many other gadgets and it comes with 5 years warranty... LOL LOL LOL...

Overall, this is a decent PlaMoKit for it's price and something that you could keep as a memory for "Stardust Memory". Articulation is not great but not the worst either and Bandai did what they could on this model using the technology of 2001 for a Gundam that was designed in the late 1980's - Bandai wanted the end product to be as consistent possible with the original design and thus no room for exaggeration there. I had the 1/100 MG kit last time and personally for me, if you want this particular Gundam for the sake of memento of this series, the there is not much different from either getting the HG or the MG version, both don't score well in terms of articulation though obviously the MG will win on size, the extra details, the transformable core fighter jet, the price, the bigger box, extra shipment charges and yet you still end up having the same difficulties on posing the Gundam with the "foldable bazooka". I'm happy with what I get from this kit and not much more to say beyond that.
