1/144 HGUC Gelgoog (MS-14S)
This is the MS-14S Gelgoog used by Char Aznable in the final battle of UC 0079 before he use the gigantic Zeong.
For 1,500 yen (about SGD 23.00) before shipment charges, this Gelgoog is slightly bigger than the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam as well as those HGUC Gouf and Zaku II. It looks a bulky especially on the legs part but surely if only Zeon manage to build this Gelgoog a little bit earlier, they might easily beat the Gundam and win the war at that time... they just a little too late or maybe luck is really not on their side...
So without further delay, let's have a look at it...
The box...
Strange enough, I managed to finished assembling this model in just 3 hours plus... Usually I'm quite slow...
The body...
No back pack or visible thrusters... that is because all the thrusters were hidden inside those bulky leg and rear skirt and thus make this Gelgoog look a little plain but still elegant... I think te beauty of it is that the designer managed to hide all those thruster to give the Gelgoog some sort of smooth look... It is basically the same concept as those Dom/Rick-Dom.
This kit was released in 2006 and therefore articulation wise is much better if compared to the previous Zaku III that we reviewed here.
This Gelgoog have no problem to stand on 1 leg and do this kicking act...
Maximum limbs stretch...
With all the weapons and armaments.... beam rifle and shield....
It is not wrong to say that the Zeon designer of Gelgoog (or rather the actual mecha designer - Kunio Okawara) eventually copy the concept of RX-78-2 Gundam and blend it well to suit the Zeonist style.
This is the shield... quite big and I like it...
At the back, you can mount the "beam naginata" handle...

Although this Gelgoog is already bigger than the 78, the Zaku III prove to be bigger than both of them...
Overall, this is a nice and easy kit to work with... Nothing super duper to be expected and at the same time you wont get any disappointment as well... unless of coz if you hope it could be as good as the 1/100 MG Gelgoog Ver. 2.0 - which of coz doesn't make sense coz HG and MG is totally 2 different class of their own.
As a Zeon and/or UC time line fan, one would love to get this for sure and we really can give good recommendation for you to get this Gelgoog because it is simply an outstanding HGUC kits.
