Hot Wheels - Ferrari 599XX

This is a die-cast car model of Ferrari 599XX produced by Hot Wheels and this one comes in dark color, I guess dark grey or dark silver, almost black but not really.

The Ferrari 599 (internal code F141) is an Italian sports car produced by Ferrari. It was the brand's two-seat flagship, replacing the 575M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model, but was replaced for the 2013 model year by the F12 Berlinetta. Styled by Pininfarina under the direction of Ferrari's Frank Stephenson, the 599 GTB debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006. It is named for its total engine displacement (5999 cc), Gran Turismo Berlinetta nature, and the Fiorano Circuit test track used by Ferrari.

The 599XX is a car designed for track use only and is not street legal, based on 599 GTB. The car was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The rev. limiter is raised to 9000 rpm, with the engine rated for 730 PS (540 kW; 720 hp) at 9000 rpm. Weight is reduced by reducing the weight of the engine unit components, the use of composite materials, and the use of carbon-fiber body parts and brake pads. A new gearbox shift strategy is introduced to cut overall gear change time to 60 ms. Aerodynamics were re-tuned to give more down-force. Ferrari announced at the 2010 Beijing International Auto Show that the 599XX had completed the Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in a time of 6 minutes and 58.16 seconds - the fastest time ever recorded for a production-derived sports car.

The casting quality is very good while the painting finishing is decent though I don't fancy such dark color as I tend to prefer red for Ferrari but at the end this is the only unit available and thus I have to live with it, hopefully next time I could get the red one. Hot Wheels includes some sort of stripes decals which I don't fancy either, I believe Ferrari don't really suit to have all those stripes but I guess other peoples may think otherwise - it's a matter of personal taste, nothing wrong about it. I like the fact that Hot Wheels provided the decals of Ferrari logo at the side, it's pretty simple but quite meaningful.

My only complain on this particular model is the tire size - quite huge at the rear and smaller at the front, again this is a matter of personal taste, some people love it that way, some don't - the actual Ferrari 599XX don't really have such characteristic on the wheels/tires but then again, this is a toy car LOL...

The interior, it's "tinted" so the visibility is poor and thus not much we can see even with the naked eyes but don't worry the typical interior detailing is there, this car have 2 seats and a steering wheel and all the usual peripherals we expect inside a car LOL...

At the moment I'm considering to change the color scheme of this car and if that happen, it will be red for sure, but then again, I need to see if I have the mood and the time to do it in the near future. As it is, I have to admit that somehow the painting finishing on this model is quite good.

Come to think of it, I don't really have much of Ferrari from Hot Wheels and even from other brand. So far I only have these 3 units and I like them a lot...

Overall, this is a very good die-cast car model of Ferrari 599XX from Hot Wheels. Casting and finishing quality is very good and I hope I could get similar model again next time in red or yellow color. If you are a fan of Ferrari, there is high chances that you would like this one.

Anyway, since this is Ferrari, I guess it's time to celebrate, let's play a little bit more, let's do the photoshoot with the other European speed monster LOL...

A little bit of close up....

  1. man, you’re not the only one who loves this particular model and albeit i’m not a hardcore fan of Ferrari, i think this 599XX is very sexy... not very obsessed with the red in Ferraris (which i will explain in one of my future publications), but i find this shade of grey polychrome quite intriguing and sumptuous (as you wisely said, a matter of tastes =) !!!... by the way, i love your Car Shop maquette, i hope someday to get one for my "garage", i think it looks incredibly sweet !!!... =D

    1. Come to think of it, I do like Ferrari a lot but when it comes to die-cast car model at this scale I can be quite fussy and selective... in fact there are certain models of Ferrari that I don't really like and thus I won't bother to get them even if they are available in my favorite Red color.
