1/64 Tamiya Collector's Club - Honda S2000

This is Tamiya 1/64 Scale Collector's Club Honda S2000 die cast car model produced by Tamiya thru their factory in China.

Honda S2000 happen to be my dream car ever since when I first saw it either in magazine or thru internet over a decade ago and even till nowadays the dream never disappear, it is still a car I would love to owned if I ever become rich enough someday LOL....

Honda S2000 is a roadster that was manufactured by the Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company. It was launched in April 1999 and was created to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The designer is Shigeru Uehara who also designed Honda NSX and Honda Integra Type-R.

The car was first shown as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, following which it was launched in world markets in 1999. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of 2L, carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800 roadsters of the 1960s.

Several revisions were made throughout the car's lifetime, including changes to the engine, gearbox, suspension and interior and exterior. Officially two variants exist: the initial launch model was given the chassis code AP1, while the AP2 designation was given to vehicles produced from mid-2003 onwards.

Though cosmetically similar, the AP2 incorporated significant changes to the drivetrain and suspension. Production of the S2000 ceased in June 2009.

OK now, lets have a look at this car model;

Nice information sheet in Japanese and English;

Comes with clear plastic casing and display base with the car name printed on it;

Now the S2000 out side the casing and out of that display base;

This car model features decent external details, compulsory Honda logo on the front, plastic front lights that make it look a little more realistic - much better than just use paints;

Decent wheels and rubber tires;

Brake lights are made of plastic also... very nice ^___^

Openable door on both side;

The interior details are not spectacular but overall it is quite brilliant;

That's how it looks like down there - they use screw, so you can easily open up the car:

Overall, this is one of the best Honda S2000 at 1/64 scale that I've ever seen and no surprise about it since it is produced by Tamiya - one of the Japanese veteran brand in toys and hobby world. The painting finishing is quite good, I like the fact that this car have less stickers and decals unlike those from Hot Wheels. I do spotted a little bit of dented near the side mirror but it's not so bad and not really a deal breaker.

Side by side with the hardtop Honda S2000 by Ryuchi Asada from Hot Wheels in silver color;

Side by side with the Honda Civic Type R Euro (FN2) by Takara Tomy;

And we add Honda NSX (or rather Acura NSX) from Hot Wheels to the party;

end

  1. is the first time i see a Tamiya diecast in this scale... i was familiarized with those by Revell, so i guess they’re at a similar level of detail... as you i like this model (the actual car) and i agree that this diecast while is not impressive has a very decent finishing and the acrylic urn is great for display... i like as well the Honda S2000 and NSX by Hot Wheels you showed in the last pictures... =)
