Nodame Cantabile - The End
Finally it's out, finally I watched it and finally the lovely anime and live drama series of the wonderful Nodame Cantabile reached the finale...
Nodame Cantabile live drama is one of the best anime adaptation I've ever watched in my life. The adaption is basically telling the same story line from the anime with just minor tweak and improvement here and there (which is brilliant in fact).
In the past many fans complaining or rather largely disappointed with movie or drama adaptations of "Honey and Clover" and "Nana" and even "Initial D" as some of the examples but Nodame Cantabile drama managed to won several awards and that should be enough as evidence that the drama adaptation is simply fantastic.
The overall reception are generally positive and I personally would label it as the best. Yeah, some people would then label it as boring due to its repeating nature but majority of the Nodame Cantabile fans are generally satisfied.
OK, while the previous adaption was in the form of drama series of many episodes but this finale is presented in 2 parts of 2 hours movie format and it seems that to constraints everything into 2 hours is rather difficult for director Takeuchi Hideki.
He made the series so good in the first place, and then top it with promises of better yet to come but to squeeze many things into just 2 hours movie is seriously difficult.
Chiaki now already reach certain high level in his own field though he still need to learn a little bit more before he can reach the peak....
He was assigned to handle a struggling musical orchestra group, I think the name is "Guns N Roses" or something like that... LOL
The atmosphere in here reminded us about the struggles of Chiaki while leading an orchestra band while in Japan, I can't remember the name, is it Rolling Stones? LOL
While Noda Megumi is still a piano student in Conservatoire de Paris. She still have the dream to have her piano concert together with Chiaki.
We also see the conclusion for Kiyora Miki and Ryutaro Mine. I personally feel that Mizukawa Asami (the actress for Kiyora Miki) is quite beautiful and I don't mind to have sex with her...
Ryutaro Mine secretly attended the latest competition that Kyora participate. She played "Brahms Violin Concerto Op. 77 - 3rd Movement" ( I think most likely "in D Major"). This is certainly my favorite pieces from the movie.
In the Japan arc, I love the "Beethoven Violin and Piano Sonata No. 5 (Spring)" while in the Paris/France arc, I love the "Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1 in B b- Op. 23" and this time around the "Brahms Violin Concerto Op. 77 - 3rd Movement" touch my heart.
Though Mine try to hide himself so that Kyora can focus for the competition... eventually Kyora found out and hug him from behind and tell Mine that what ever the result, Kyora want to go back to Japan with Mine....
In other words, Kyora would love to have sex, lot's of sex - with Mine - rather than struggling trying to be the best violinist in Europe but not getting any sex at the same time... life without sex is so lonely...
And right after that.... they went back to Japan and live happily ever after... lot's of sex...
And that makes Chiaki feel lonely and jealous.... in his mind Chiaki was saying, "I should've fuck Kyora while I have the chance - that Mine bastard is damn lucky, looks like I have no choice but to fuck Nodame again in the near future... sigh..."
And as usual, we can see the return of the familiar faces....
And the immaculate Maestro Franz von Stresemann - the old pervert, demanding, and not at all dignified genius (sounds like me LOL) - as always, a must featured character in all Nodame Cantabile series.... he is the symbol of a happy go lucky enjoy life forever Japanese old man...
Just like in anime, Nodame have the chance to do some concert together with Stresemann...
And as usual just like in the previous Nodame Cantabile show, there will be lots of explanation about the classical musical scores presented in the show - the history, the composer, the composition, the musical instruments and many more.... it is really a nice information.
All the hoopla aside.... the movie seems to focus more into serious drama element and you can see less comedy element if compared to the previous show.
Basically, towards the end, Nodame seems to lost her direction (probably due to the not enough sex activities between her and Chiaki) and decided to quit music and instead pursuing her dream to be a kindergarten teacher or maybe the last choice, running a brothel in Nagasaki, Japan.
Chiaki have to persuade Nodame to play the "Sonata in D Major for 2 pianos K.448 (Allegro con spirito)" - the first tune they played together when they first met in Japan long time ago (in 2006 I guess).
And once the finish with that "Sonata in D Major for 2 pianos K.448 (Allegro con spirito)" - they hugged each other and I don't know what the fuck is going on... Most likely, I think maybe Chiaki managed to calmed Nodame and make her understand that she need to continue her piano class before she can seriously consider about running a brothel in Japan.
And that's it? at the end we see this scene of them kissing each other with lots of passion....
French kiss on the bridge.... mesmerizing...
And so that is all.... FINISH....
They said all good things must end....
Overall, I think I still satisfied with the ending and the way how the movie goes. It's not perfect and obviously I (and maybe many other fans) would wish for a little bit of information on this and that but the bottom line is there is not enough time.
I think maybe it would be better if they just produce at least some 12 episodes of drama (1 hour each) rather than squeeze everything into a limited time movies.
However, I guess the producer, the sponsor and who ever in charge calling the shots must have their reason to make it a movie instead. Probably they don't like Iron Maiden or Bon Jovi or any heavy metal rock elements - but surely they must have a plausible reason.
I think the no matter what, I can still praise the director Takeuchi Hideki for this movie. Again, it's not perfect but I think I can like it.
