Twist Action Form Kamen Rider Ryuki

This is the review of Twist Action Form Kamen Rider Ryuki (Masked Rider Ryuki) from the Kamen Rider Ryuki (aka Masked Rider Ryuki) TV series.

The box...

Out of the box...

Not much you will get....

The figure...

2 extra/optional hands and the sword (Drag Saber)...

Let's have a look at the figure...

The original retail price for this item is 4,200 yen (about SGD 67.00) which in my personal opinion is absolute nonsense.

Bandai is so excited to launched this "Twist Action Form" (or shortly TAF) action figure series boasting about the features such as great details and capability of holding realistic action poses thanks to the inner metal Twist Action Frames technology, which provide infinite range of unrestricted motions.

Another feature of this series is that the suits are made of faux leather that cover the entire body so there would be no unsightly visible joints.

No visible joints on the elbow...

No visible joints on the hip and knee...

But then again, this is how it looks like when you bend the elbow and knee....

I think the knee parts still looks OK but those elbow parts.... they look funny....

On top of that, despite the large size of this figure, I feel looks quite cheap and the detailing level is just above average.

I personally love the detailing level on those mini figures like S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii Kamen Rider Ryuki. Despite the smaller size, the detailing level is much better and more satisfying than this TAF figure. I personally feel quite disappointed with this TAF figure.

And imagine if you pay 4,200 yen (about SGD 67.00) you will only get the lousy looking Drag Saber while the S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii figure at will also offer you that Drag Claw and certainly much more in terms of details.... what the heck Bandai?

Luckily though, I was helping HLJ to clear some of their stock and I only pay 1,260 yen (about SGD 20.00) but after I finished reviewing this figure, I regret about ordering the Twist Action Form Kamen Rider Den-O Sword Form (also at the same price of 1,260 yen) and ignoring S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii Kamen Rider Den-O Sword Form at 1,200 yen... I should've choose the S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii figure....

Nonetheless, let's move on and do the articulation test...

Kneeling pose is not a problem but you have to really put some effort to "shaped" those metal frame.... not as easy as you thought it would be...

This is the maximum stretch of the 4 limbs....that's about it... SH Figuarts can do better than this...

Well, I guess nothing much to test further on this figure... so let's just do some action pose...

For what is worth, this TAF figure never failed to do most if not all of the action pose that you can think off but then again SH Figuarts figure can do better than that....

Size comparison with 1/144 and 1/100 scale Gundam.

Size comparison with the other Kamen Rider figure series available in Shewsbury Land now...

I personally still think that this little guy is much better than the big guy we reviewed here today....

Well, just because I like Kamen Rider Ryuki and just because I have bought this item (even at a discounted price), doesn't mean that I will surely praise the item blindly. I will tell you what I think about it but it's up to you to decide if my opinion is valid or not. The basic rule applies, if you have doubt with any review you read from the internet, buy the item and test it yourself to satisfy your doubt.

Overall, at 4,200 yen (SGD 67.00) I will not buy this TAF figure for sure- not by a long shot. I think most of that money is to cover that faux leather suits while the rest of the parts is just so plasticky and feel cheap...

Even at 1,260 yen (about SGD 20.00) that I have paid for this, I still not entirely happy with it. I think I enjoy the FFR Kamen Rider Decade much more than this TAF figure.

Though I like the idea of that faux leather as the suits and the large size of the figure might mesmerized you but the inner frame is certainly not that great and failed to convinced me to pay anything higher than 1,000 yen. It may sound insane but yes - I think 1,000 yen is the fair price for this item.
