Banpresto SCM Ex: Gouf
This is the Special Creative Model Ex: Gouf produced by Banpresto - Bandai's very own child specializing in other stuff that is not done by Bandai but surely it helps a lot to contribute some income to Bandai as a group.
Well, I guess I have one Gouf too many already... this probably the 4th Gouf that we reviewed here...
Received these items since last week but I was busy watching the DVD of my favorite TV Shows - Boston Legal.... the final season (5) - it was dramatic as it is fun and I hope they will make some spin off or something out of it. I personally like the concept and the story a lot.
So finally last night... these 2 fellows were taken out of their box for good...
So let's get on with it...
The box...
Out of the box... not much to shout about, extra hands, beam sword and shield and no hot rod? well, never mind, I don't bother about that anyway...
Let's have a look at the Gouf
It is basically at 1/144 scale. Proportion wise, I would say it may not be 100% accurate or perfect but for the price you pay and for all the fun that you get from this item, I couldn't be bothered, I think it is quite great, not perfect but great, we in Shewsbury Land are quite happy with it.
Articulation wise, Banpresto never disappoint us. The articulation of this item is in fact much better than the 1/144 HGUC Gouf (the gunplamo kit)
From a few photos below, you can see that this thing is really fun to play with...
The shield and the beam sword... now this is where some of us might have different opinion or high expectation - especially on the beam sword part...
As you can see in this photo below, the beam sword is basically molded into 1 item and you cannot separated the beam and the handle part....
And this is how you basically mounted the beam sword on the shield....
So that's how it looks like then....
I personally dislike to display it this way.... it doesn't make sense... how can the beam is "ON" when you suppose to "OFF" it before you mount it on the shield...
As for the details on the shield, we are quite happy with it. Some simple panel lining and it looks good.
In case if you want to see the joint mechanism on the knee.... this is it;
The backpack...
Although this is just a toy, but we the collectors always want it to be real or at least look almost real...
So I guess the best way to make it look "real" (at least in my personal point of view) is to remove the sword from the shield when you make this simple standing pose...
And then later you just grab the sword again and do the action pose that you can think off...
I tried as much as possible not to put too many photos in this review so I guess these should be enough... You know what it can do, if you like them or if you want to know further, go grab them, they're quite cheap.
Last but not least... that 75mm finger cannon;
Overall, this is a very fun toys or figure to have and to play with and also looks good for a display item, at such a cheap price of 1,450 yen (about SGD 23.00) before adding the shipment charges, I think this item worth every single cents you spent on it.
No doubt that Banpresto may intended this items for those young children and thus there is no sharp objects included but as far as adult collectors concern, this is damn good to pass.
If you are a big fan of Zeon or MS from the classic Gundam anime, go grab them if you can still get it from any online or local toy retailers.
