1/100 MG Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai (MBF-P02KAI)

This is the review for 1/100 MG Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai or in Chinese I would say Chicken (Kai = Chicken).

For 5,000 yen (about SGD 76.00) before adding whatever shipment charges - the same price as MG Gundam Unicorn Ver. Ka or MG Shin Musha - I would say it's kind of expensive but then again Bandai knew that as well and thus they give that gigantic multipurpose heavy sword thingy to justify the price - and they also give that stupid clear parts which I throw away immediately the moment I open up the box.

I and maybe many of you as well hate or dislike the clear parts though there are still plenty of people out there who love it so much and thus Bandai purposely made them so that maybe this people will consider buying the 1/60 PG Aile Strike Gundam Clear Parts Version...

Well, I'm a big fan of Strike Gundam and all the variation, no doubt about that, even my Blogger profile photo showing the face of Strike Gundam... but if somebody give me the 1/60 PG Aile Strike Gundam Clear Parts Version for free, I will gladly just throw it away or donate it to the poor and the needy... Hahahaha... I seriously hate those clear parts and the fact that Bandai did not make 1/60 PG Aile Strike Gundam with the normal color parts... make me want to say = FUCK YOU BANDAI!!!

So let's forget the emotion part and continue with the review...

The box...

The body...

From far away, it looks almost quite the same as the 1/100 HG/NG version... almost... in Thailand I saw this T-Shirt with the wording of " Same Same But Different"...

Articulation wise... it's fantastic... probably the best... I plan to do some "Kamasutra" pose but for the time being, these few photos below should be enough...

Kneeling is never a problem...

Damn... too much Aperture on this photo... nonetheless... not many Gundam can do this Yoga stuff right?

Side kick...

Front kick...

Some Karate stance maybe... and you can do more... we should really try the "Kamasutra" pose...

The knee joint system is excellent and thus enable greater movement range and articulation...

The arms is as good as it should be...

The face...

Some close up on the body parts and armors here and there...

3 Bandai stickers means = I Love Bandai...

The pilot cockpit...

Some photos with all the weapons and that gigantic big sword that can transform into the backpack and whatever...

That big sword is damn too heavy, no doubt about it... looks can be deceiving but it in never deceiving this time around... it is damn heavy...

And Bandai knew that as well and thus they give the Action Base 2 as a bonus or rather as a "social responsibility" to support that heavy stuff...

I don't really fancy that heavy stuff as a backpack though I realized that it could add some power and speed for the Gundam but if there is anything that I will like the most on what that heavy stuff can do... that would be this one below;

Some sort of bow or cannon or whatever... but it sure looks cool...

And now back to basic... the 2 katana (sword) mounted on both side of the hip...

Well that's about it, once you have this Gundam, you can do any kind of pose that you can think off or that you like... what I have here is just a simple reference and I knew they're not great at all.

I happen to do the photo session on early morning today, the moment I wake up before I rushing preparing my self to go to office... in just 1 hour time... this is all I can managed and I guess I can't complain, in fact I'm glad that I complete it...

Back to the Gundam, the issue I have with this kit is that the armor parts is a little loose or weak and thus they are prone to fall down... and I hate it so much... the last time I have such problem is with that MG Crossbone Gundam Ver. Ka - move a little bit, this or that will fall down and it is annoying...

So obviously to solve this problem, I have to use Tamiya cement, super glue and white glue here and there to make sure it feel solid and firm and no problem anymore with parts falling down.

I spent a solid 1 hour to glue/cement everything so that they wont fall down again...

Another thing that I dislike is the thumb finger... it is so lousy and can easily fall down from the hand... If you happen to bring this Gundam outdoor, better watch out for that thumb finger... they can just fall down easily when you trying to attached the katana onto the hand or even when you just pressing them with a little bit of force... annoying... sometimes it makes me feel like I'm having a fake Gundam from China...

I have no clue yet on how to solve this finger problem, but most likely I will just use the white glue again.

And that big heavy sword thingy... whatever it is... I can deny that it looks cool and have plenty of extra features but the most important part is the weight and you do need to spend some time to really explore it's features... transformation, adjustment, attaching to action base, arranging the pose and adjusting it again and so on... time consuming... but then again, when I think of it... it would be boring if Bandai don't include anything extra, so maybe, just maybe, the heavy big sword thingy is not that bad idea after all...

Other than that... I guess no further complain... everything else is great and I love it... 2 Katana with nice chrome color, great articulation and still way much cheaper than buying the 1/60 Perfect Grade Gundam Astray Red Frame though I hope it can be a little cheaper, say 4,000 yen? Hahahahaha...

By the way, if you interested to read further detailed review of the MG Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd Revise, which in a way not that much different with this Red Frame, just a minor changes here and there... you should visit Z's blog, he have detailed explanation and opinion as well as lot's of photos with great action pose...

So if you like Red Frame and can't afford to buy the PG (just like me) - you should then save some money and buy this MG kit... it's fantastic...
