The Honda S2000 is a roadster manufactured by the Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company. It was launched in April 1999 and was created to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The car was first shown as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, following which it was launched in world markets in 1999. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of 2 L, carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800 roadsters of the 1960s. Several revisions were made throughout the car's lifetime, including changes to the engine, gearbox, suspension and interior and exterior. Officially two variants exist: the initial launch model was given the chassis code AP1, while the AP2 designation was given to vehicles produced from mid-2003 onwards. Though cosmetically similar, the AP2 incorporated significant changes to the drivetrain and suspension. Production of the S2000 ceased in June 2009

I've been hunting for this particular 1:18 scale die cast car model since last year but its either I missed it (some one else grab it before me) or I just can't find it in many of the local toy shops or even in those big departmental store...

Thanks to Eric, I finally managed to get this item from Hua Ho Kiulap... for you info, the toys division on the 2nd floor of Hua Ho Kiulap has been revamped recently and they have plenty of nice stuff there, worth a visit now... better than it was before... and they have plenty of die cast car models from Maisto....

The retail price is SGD 40.00 before the 15% discount... I think it is slightly higher than the price I saw last year in Hua Ho Yayasan (even after you take into account that 15% discount) but since it's not easy to find this model nowadays... I just grab it without further delay...

OK, enough with all the mumbo jumbo, let's see this S2000...

The box...

Out of the box...

Well, I'm not an expert about cars and so far this year I never snap any photos of die cast car models and thus I would consider this as my first with my Panasonic FZ28;

The dashboard detailing is quite OK.... for such a low price (if compared to those made by the high end Auto Art), I am quite happy with it...

Openable door....

Bucket seat... red color... cool....

Openable boot

So I guess that's how it looks like on the real one as well... they seems to hide the spare tire somewhere down there?

And of coz the engine part...

The front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout with power being delivered by a 1,997 cc (122 cu in) F20C inline 4 cylinder DOHC-VTEC engine producing from 237 hp (177 kW) to 250 PS (184 kW), and from 153 ft·lbf (207 N·m) to 22.2 kg·m (218 N·m) of torque.

Underneath...

Bridgestone Potenza tire...

Must be good to have this car and use it to go to market early in the morning and buy plenty of vegetables, fruits and some meats and fish maybe....

In my daydreaming... it's great to have this car and racing/drifting with it Fujiwara Takumi's Toyota Trueno AE86 on the mountain pass...

In Grand Turismo 4 (PS2 video game), Honda S2000 is my favorite car and so far the easiest of them all to do direct drift without worrying much about changing the car suspension set up and so on... and since it doesn't use any Turbo... you don't have to worry about "Turbo-lag" - everything is as smooth as instant noodles....

Using Figma on this 1:18 scale look so "unreal" - Tsukasa's head is quite gigantic...

Maybe this 4 inch Darth Vader will do... but even this... I still don't think its perfect enough...

Next year I was hoping for some car models from D1 GP series and I also still dreaming to have the Toyota F1 and BAR Honda F1 1:18 scale die cast model car but since the price is at around/within SGD 150.00 - guess I can't afford such luxury yet...

  1. The S2000 is a very attractive and fun car. The model you have is of the AP1 (first gen), which looks a lot cleaner than the AP2 and I think is an overall better car. This scale model is a great representation of it, right down to the interior panels... though I didn't know the JDM version has a navi option ^^;. It would've been nice if they can do away with the front license plate though.
