GFF Shin Musha Gundam and Musha Gundam

This is Hajime Katoki's GFF Shin Musha Gundam from Musha World - I supposed that is a PlayStation video games or something like that.

At 4,800 yen (about SGD 73.00 / NZD 73.00 / AUD 61.00 / USD 52.00) before shipment charges I would say that this model is indeed quite pricey but if you are a big fan of GFF series I guess you can swallow the price. If you add another 200 yen you can already get the 1/100 MG Shin Musha Gundam. Then again it's wrong to think of it that way. Very wrong, different product, different segment, simple as that.

I personally only wanted this GFF for the sake of having the Musha Gundam as I already have the MG Shin Musha.

So here we go...

The box...

Out of the box... you will get all these stuff... quite a lot...

The Gundam...

All the weapons Nichirinmaru katana with sheath, Denkoumaru naginata, Sankoumaru jumonji yari and a Tanegashima gun....

All the extra armors to formed Musha Gundam...

The extra hands...

And of coz the standard GFF action base/display stand.

Let's see the Shin Musha first....

Articulation? Well this is GFF, yes there is some basic articulation but it is not meant for "serious action pose" - GFF is more for "looking great by just standing still in the GFF Pose"

Nonetheless for this review purpose, I still try to do some of it... this is basically the maximum he can do...

He still can do this kicking action but as for maximum stretch and great posing, that is not really possible...

And all that is left to see the great detailing work the factory did on this 1/144 scale figure...

Then again.... don't put too much hope for "perfection"...

HLJ favorite advise; Please note that figures such as this are mass produced and as a result some inconsistencies in finish and painting may occur; these are not considered manufacturer's defects. If you absolutely must have perfection, prepare to do some touch-up work on your own.

Basically there is still some ugly mistake/lousiness on the detailing works here and there...

Size comparison with the 1/100 MG Shin Musha Gundam...

As I mentioned earlier, the main reason to get this is Musha Gundam so I wont show many photos of the Shin Musha here and instead I just pick this nice 2 photos below;

And so now we jump directly to Musha Gundam.... and first thing first, let's have a look around...

I think after you see the above photos you can basically spot the differences between the Shin Musha Gundam and Musha Gundam...

But you can see further in the following few photos;

The head part... Shin Musha don't have that black thing...

The chest part... This is the chest part of Musha Gundam, I personally like the Shin Musha's design on this particular part...

Front skirt...I like this one...

The shield part is kind of unique... again I like the Musha style...

As for the leg parts.. not much for me to say though they're a little bit different as well...

Backpack parts.... I think I prefer the Shin Musha's type with 4 thrusters...

A little bit of "standing pose"...

Due to the limited articulation, not much to do on the display stand as well...

Basically I did super glue the inner frame and connector of this GFF Musha of mine and thus it will be now permanently be a GFF Shin Musha only... no more transformation back to GFF Shin Musha Gundam.

The figures feel so solid now and can handle the impact of falling down from the dinner table - I did the "crash" test actually and this figure survive without any injuries.... the super glue did a great job and even so I still don't lose the basic articulation capabilities that this figure have to offer. So now I have quite a sturdy GFF Musha Gundam and I'm proud of it.

And all this extra armors.... of coz we wont throw it away but instead I will use for future modification project...

And since I have plenty of RX-78-2 Gundam... most likely I will modified one of them to become another Shin Musha Gundam Shewsbury Custom maybe...

Apparently I bought this sword stand with key chain kind of thing last month and now I can finally use it...

The sword that comes with it is quite nice as well... maybe I can give it to my GFFN Aile Strike.

The sword stand...

Musha Gundam like it as well...

So this it then...

So at the end, since this Musha Gundam is designed by Hajime Katoki so I shall leave this at the "Temple of Katoki" as below with all the MG of Crossbone, Unicorn, Sinanju and Shin Musha

Just like many other normal GFF, you will experience some lousiness here and there - on the joints or on the armor which is normal but also at the same time it's quite annoying...

After paying so much for a 1/144 scale figures... you would expect something perfect but that is never the case.

The complains - on GFF Shin Musha Gundam mode, on the right leg the armor is quite loose and can easily pop-out from the inner frame... seems to be something is lose there... other that this, everything is acceptable.

On Musha Gundam mode, one of the hand shield have difficult times to stick with the connector on the shoulder... when I peep inside it... some factory error maybe, the connector is a little too short. At the end, super glue solve this problem and it stick there permanently now.

On both mode however the right shoulder is quite lousy as well and to solve this problem again I use super glue to fix certain parts on the joint connector and now it's all but great.

Though this might happen to this specific case or unit but overall GFF is never perfect.

I have 4 GFF (RX-78 Perfect Gundam, RX-78 Full Armor, NT-Alex, Destiny) and 2 units of GFFN Aile Strike, from my experience so far, GFFN is basically an improved version of GFF as they use die-cast as the materials for the joint system the inner frame which is more solid and durable. However, the GFFN will cost you more than the normal GFF, something like double the price.

Despite all the issues, problems and weaknesses that plague GFF I still love them. Basically they look so beautiful if compared to the normal 1/144 HG GunPlaMo kits.

And now Bandai have the more improved GFFN but so far as at November 2009 - they only have 2 models;

1/144 GFF Next Generation Aile Strike Gundam
1/144 GFF Next Generation MSZ-008 Z II

I have 2 units of Aile Strike and love it so much, you can see the review in here and next year I hope we can review the ZII in here.

Overall, unless if you share the same interest of great looking Gundam, it's quite difficult for me to recommend this GFF to you. It is really intended for serious and matured collectors of Gundam.

However, if you seriously wanted the beauty of the GFF and can tolerate the weakness that comes with it and you can afford the hefty price, then why not, you should get at least one of them.

There are a few great Gundam models that is currently have no HG 1/144 or MG 1/100 GunPlaMo kits and thus the only way to obtained them is thru this GFF series.

  3. Starboykb, u go to Gadong, in front of Center Point Hotel, on the corner have Ayamku restaurant on the normal shop lots building... this shop with no name is just next to that Ayamku.

It's something like a gift shop but also have cheap toys inside.

They also have plenty of Tamiya car model kits selling at half price now (about below $20 after discount)

    Cheers and good luck...

Mike, GFFMC... I will venture into that someday... the price is the same as 1/60 PG so we really need to save a lot of money before buying such premium item...

You go buy 7355 for RM 1.00 in Magnum4D and hopefully you can win some free money... hahahaha... good luck...
