MSIA Acguy and Zock

Got this item from HLJ Special Holiday Sales with Free Shipping Offer in collaboration with PayPal last week.

At the same time when we received many of the items we ordered from that promotions, the HGUC Gundam Unicorn also arrived - the 1/144 HGUC RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode and the 1/144 HGUC RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Unicorn Mode but most probably we can only see it here in Shewsbury Land by next year as I only plan to work on it during the long Winter and Christmas break of December 2009.

In the meantime though, you can always Google around and I'm sure there are already many others who probably completed and upload their review for both modes of this Unicorn.

You can also head to Hobby Search and look at all the contents and the runners... When I look at it, I feel overwhelmed... quite a lot of parts for a HGUC... lot's of work to do...

Many people have already bought the 1/100 MG Unicorn Gundam Ver. Ka and generally many felt that despite the beautiful looking, there are plenty of issues and annoyance that plague the MG and we are all hoping that this 2 latest HGUC kits can addressed and tackle most of that issues and make it more enjoyable than the MG kits... hopefully....

With all the latest technology, tools, equipment and lots of brain power combined together, I believe Bandai can make things better and make more money from all of us the Gundam fans.

I can see that lately Bandai gave lots of extra effort to enhanced their 1/144 HGUC/HG division and thus I can see most of the modern kits on this scale and series are quite incredible and really worth the money you spend on them... some of them are better than their decade old 1/100 MG counterparts.

And of course if you lazy to do model kit, you can always opt for completed action figures under Bandai's Robot Tamashii series. You can get both Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode as well though the price is slightly more expensive than the GunPlaMo kits.

OK, enough about Unicorn, let's go to the featured review... the MSIA Acguy and Zock. Currently you can get it from HLJ for just 1,300 yen (about SGD 20.00) before shipment charges.

The box...

By the way this Acguy and Zock are amphibious MS - that means they are like those submarine, can go under the deep sea and skip radar detection and at the same time they can also go up to the land and attack the enemy like many other ground MS. You could also imagine them as something like a crocodile...

Out of the box... these all you get... not much of it...

OK let's see the MSM-10 Zock first...

The unique thing about this Zock is that he basically have no front or back... those mono eyes can just move around 360 degrees.

See the back part here... is in fact the same as the front part... too bad that we can't move the mono eye of this MSIA unit... the yellow mono eye stuck or were stick on 1 part only. If you get the HGUC unit, you can move the mono eye around here and there... try check out the photos in here.

If you get the BB#238 unit (it's 3 MS in 1 box), you can surely just twist those pink part (like a horn) on top of its head and the mono eye can move around 360 degrees front to back...

Back to this MSIA unit... not much to do with this model... he have some basic articulation and that's about it...

Nonetheless the details and panel lines presented on this item are quite nice....

And now we move on to this Acguy... my wife said "this guy is cute" and indeed I also think that Acguy is the cutest MS of them all.... petit is cute...

This unit joint Char Aznable's Gelgoog to attack the Jaburo Base. At least on this MSIA pack, this Acguy comes with exchangeable arms and a claws part that can be opened. Honestly, this Acguy is the main selling point on this MSIA pack for us...

This guy can do some articulation... at least much better than the Zock... again, he is cute...

The details and panel lines are quite impressive...

Using the exchangeable arms...

The claws...

The left side is actually "torpedo laucher"

As we get it at a discounted price plus no shipment charges what so ever... this is indeed a great value for money especially if you like the cute guy so much... otherwise you might also consider getting the 1/144 HGUC Acguy and 1/144 HGUC Zock.

If you are in Brunei, you can get them from Kawan Ria Toys or you can order it from Chong Hock Toynation.

  1. wo, you've gotten both HGUC Unicorn already. I'm still struggling to get them or not because I already have the MG. But the thing is that the MG has gotten loose and not very playable. So getting the HGUC ones isn't a bad idea after all. hope can find decals for them, because the plain white unicorns look quite boring... i really liked the overwhelming decals of Ver Kas haha.

  2. You did mentioned:

"the MG has gotten loose and not very playable"

In fact that is the very reason why I buy both the HGUC... the MG that I got have the same problem as you and I end up super glue certain part of it and now I cannot fully transform into "Destroy Mode".

Basically my MG Unicorn now become semi Unicorn semi Destroy mode... which is crap...

So I hope these HGUC at least can give me the proper "Unicorn" and "Destroy" unit...

As for the decals, just steal any left over from any MG kits... hahahaha
