Star Wars The Phantom Menace - Obi-Wan Kenobi

This is the typical 3.75 inches action figure of the young Obi Wan Kenobi (portrayed by Ewan McGregor) from the popular movie "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace". This action figure is produced by none other but the big Hasbro and they have been handling the franchise of the Star Wars series for many years now and if you are one of those hardcore Star Wars merchandise collectors then I guess you know that they are countless of action figures from the Star Wars series appear in the market on yearly basis and they never seems to stop.
I'm a fan of Star Wars, not really a hardcore fan but I do watched all the movies, from the VHS video cassette era to the VCD and DVD and pretty soon I hope to grab the Blu-Ray version from Amazon.
In terms of merchandise or toys collection, I do have some of the action figures. I'm quite selective in buying them though but basically I will just buy those main characters in the movie series that I like the most - hero or villain. I know there are many hardcore collectors of Star Wars out there especially in the USA and I salute them for their commitment and achievement, I don't think I can ever be at their level.
You can just Google Star Wars or Obi-Wan Kenobi to read more about them, for now, let's have a look at this action figure of the young Obi-Wan Kenobi when he is still under the guidance of his Jedi mentor Qui Gon Jinn.

The packaging;

Out of the packaging, you will only get the action figure, a light saber and that small black thingy which I don't know what is it anyway;

 The cloth thingy can be removed easily.

Let's have a look at the figure now;

A little bit of close up look to see the face sculpt and detailing;

The one and only thing that I don't like about this particular Obi-Wan Kenobi figure is that ponytail thingy under his right ear;

Articulation is typically decent, nothing spectacular but this usual kneeling pose is not a problem. It's ggod that at least we get articulation on the elbow and knee which is quite important for me.

Now it's time for some action pose;

And now finally, I can do that "Battle of Naboo" diorama thingy LOL... something like this;

Some example and explanation about the origin of Hitten Mitsurugi Ryu - Ama Kakeryu Ryu No Hirameki;

If this is a movie then I would chose this as the background song/music as you watch the next scene....

Overall, this is a decent action figure of the relatively young Obi-Wan Kenobi. The face sculpt and detailing is quite good. I like that clothing materials as their "rain coat" thingy or what ever it is. The articulation is good enough, not really great but considering the price, I guess we are happy with it.

  2. New toy in vintage card I see. That's what Yoda would say. Cool accessories (especially the Jedi robe) and well articulated. For a 3+ " tall figure, I don't think we are expecting detail head sculpt. Always like the comic stripes and you have a way of injecting humour!
