Comparison between 1/18 Honda S2000 from Maisto and Autoart

As we mentioned in the previous review of Autoart 1/18 Honda S2000 Japanese Version, this comparison is just to highlight the differences between the product at the same scale (1/18) produced by 2 different company, the affordable and consumer friendly "Maisto" and the dedicated high end collectors favorite "Autoart".

It has to be noted that first and foremost, the one from Autoart originally retailed at SGD 190.00 (at least that's the price in here) while the one from Maisto will only cost about SGD 50.00 - therefore, it is obvious that there will be differences in terms of overall finishing quality and details.

First, the Maisto provide that thing to hold the engine hood when you lift it up....

While the Autoart doesn't provide it...

Though if you want it so much, you can use toothpick....

The engine details, I never saw the engine of Honda S2000 in real life, though maybe I can Google the image or video if I want too but I never bothered, so I guess this is how it looks like;

The Maisto;

And now the Autoart;

It's up to you to judge which one is better..... hope the photo can help you....

That wording of "S2000" on the Autoart is like those "engraved" thingy, you can feel it when you touch it...

That wording of "S2000" on the Maisto is just sticker....

On Autoart, you can see the brake pad or grip (what ever they call it, I don't really know);

On Maisto, you can't see the brake pad or grip;

And now let's look into the interior side - we start with the Autoart;

And followed by the Maisto;

Now as you can see from the many of the photos above, there are some notable differences in terms of design and detailing between the 2 brand, I'm not sure if it's intentional or is it something technical or in accordance to the actual car model. I just don't know and I don't care anyway since I don't have real Honda S2000 my self so it's hard for me to say.

The Maisto model did mentioned that it is a Japanese Version of 2007 while the Autoart model just mentioned Japanese Version (not sure which year it is).

Maybe some of you have better knowledge about car engineering and Honda S2000 it self or maybe you owned one yourself and thus maybe you have better idea about it.

As for me, I can't afford Honda S2000 as I now only drive a cheap "Gouf Custom" with 2 liter engine, made in China, more like a Toyota and Ford copy, but it works fine. Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy that I can have my dream car (Honda S2000) in a finely detailed 1/18 scale and I can keep it safe at home without paying a premium and no worries about petrol, maintenance, insurance and road tax.

Maybe someday, if I get extra money from the sky or if I can find the items in such a reasonably low price, I will buy the 1/18 scale completed die cast models from Autoart for Nissan GTR and/or Toyota Trueno AE86..... maybe, just maybe....

I saw the 1/18 scale completed die cast models from Jada Toys for Nissan GTR in one of the prominent scaled model die cast collectors car shop in here. After looking at it thoroughly (while the item is still inside the box) honestly, they are more or less at the same level of Maisto, maybe just slightly better here and there, maybe not, but the price is quite friendly, around SGD 50.00 only. I guess if you are on a tight budget that is one of the option though don't expect anything like what Autoart can offer you with their deadly premium price.
