OOO Combo Change 01 Kamen Rider OOO Tatoba Combo

Kamen Rider Double (W) is gone and recently in early September 2010, Kamen Rider OOO appear as the new Kamen Rider TV series and in conjunction with that occasion, Bandai are pleased to also announce the exciting figures and toy lines series for the Kamen Rider OOO or also known shortly as Kamen Rider Oz.

Bandai produced the successful Final Form Ride (FFR) figure/toy series for Kamen Rider Decade (2009) and followed by the not so great WFC figure/toy series for Kamen Rider Double (2010) and now for this Oz, big brother Bandai introduced another exciting figure/toy series - the OOO Combo Change series.

Today, we will review the OOO Combo Change 01 Kamen Rider OOO Tatoba Combo.

Kamen Rider Double (W) introduced mid-form changes formula to cope up with different battle situations.

Now, Kamen Rider OOO, the 12th Heisei Kamen Rider series evolve further from the Double (W) methods with several different forms based on several medals with 3 possible combination.

Tatoba Combo (Eagle Head, Tiger body and arms, Hopper legs)

Tatoba Combo (タトバ コンボ, Tatoba Kombo) is Kamen Rider OOO's main combination, using the powers of the Taka, Tora, and Batta Medals. As Tatoba Combo, OOO wields the Medajalibur sword, uses the Tora Claw gauntlets, and can execute a Rider Kick called the Tatoba Kick (タトバキック, Tatoba Kikku).

By switching the Tora Medal with the Kamakiri Medal, Kamen Rider OOO transforms from Tatoba Combo to Takakiriba (タカキリバ). As Takakiriba, OOO is armed with the detachable Kamakiri Swords. Along with Tatoba Combo, Takakiriba is one of the forms Kamen Rider OOO assumes.

In addition to the above two Combos, the following Combos have been featured in various publications promoting OOO.

The medals used in these Kamen Rider OOO forms are:

Taka = Hawk
Tora = Tiger
Batta = Hopper
Kamakiri = Praying Mantis
Kuwagata = Stag Beetle

You can read further about Kamen Rider OOO in Wikipedia.

OK now, let's have a look on this figure...

The box...

Taka = Eagle

Tora = Tiger

Batta = Hopper

That eagle you saw in the box photo is sold separately = Candroid 01 - Taka Candroid, hopefully we can bring it to Shewsbury Land soon.

Out of the box...

You will get all these stuff;

The Takka (eagle) head...

The Tora (tiger) body and arms....

The Batta (hopper) legs....

The main weapon, Medajalibur sword and that round thingy, not sure about the name. Can you help us with the name?

Though the head, body and legs parts comes separately out of the box, assembly work is plain simple and straight forward....

There you are.... Kamen Rider OOO TaToBa....

A manual is also provided in case you need it....

Standing proud with his weapons....

As usual, let's have a look at the figure.....

Articulation is very good.... I would say it is much better than the first 4 of the WFC figures. This kneeling pose is never a problem....

Maximum stretch and leg spread...

Articulation on the elbow and arms....

Articulation on the knee and hip....

Articulation on the hands and fingers....

The detail is quite decent... SHF version will surely offer a better pair of eyes.... but at this point of time there is no SHF figure yet for Kamen Rider OOO....

The chest symbolized the combination - Eagle, tiger and hopper.....

I guess he put the medals on the belt there....

The legs looks pretty neat....

Now, let's highlight the features of OOO Tatoba....

First, the Tiger Claw or what I nicknamed as Wolverine Claw....

I personally love this gimmick, quite simple and yet it's very cool....

Next is the Hopper legs....

I think OOO can use this features to jump high up to the air and very useful to perform the standard Kamen Rider Kick...

And the heart and soul of this OOO Combo Change series from Bandai - just press this button to separate the head, body and legs part....

There you are... very easy and very cool.... next, you need to get the other figure from this series so that you can perform several other combination.

According to the article in Ngee Khiong's blog, there are 4 of them, so since we got 1 now - there are another 3 to go....

Finally now... action pose time.....

From my experience handling this figure, I would say that this guy is more exciting that any of those figures from WFC series.....

Kamen Rider Hentai Punch.....

Kamen Rider Orgy Kick....

Wolverine Finisher Combo.....

Victory pose....

Size comparison with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Double Heat Metal....

It seems that the TaToBa Combo figure is slightly bigger and taller than the S.H. Figuarts figure.

And this last photo is dedicated specially for Chubby and BD77.... LOL.... The catchphrase for the series is "I'm transforming!!!" (俺が変身する!!!, Ore ga henshin suru!!!) but in the photo below I guess they will say "I'm cumminggggggggggggggggg!!!" hahahahahahaha......

The price is 2,500 yen (about SGD 39.00 before adding the shipment charges).

Overall, this is a very exciting figure/toy series for Kamen Rider OOO produced by Bandai. They have listen to all the complaints on the previous WFC figure series and it seems their hard work to repeat the success of the previous Final Form Ride (FFR) figure/toy series is paid off and I'm sure that many collectors, fans and young children will love this OOO Combo Change series and enjoy it as much as they enjoyed the previous transformable FFR figures for Kamen Rider Decade.

Bandai incorporate some elements from the FFR series to the WFC series and the same element is brought forward to this OOO Combo Change series but this time Bandai did a great job and performed to their best level to make sure that this figure have better articulation and play value than the previous WFC series while still offering the option of combining different body parts and thus creating various different forms as seen on TV.

As for Bandai, the success in this line, will give them some handsome income while waiting to release the S.H. Figuarts version which most probably will only appear by next year (but maybe I'm wrong on this).

If you love Kamen Rider OOO, I believe there is no doubt that you shall enjoy this figure...

  10. Marzz, I agree that this is much better than the WFC series but on the other hand, I believe this OCC is as fun as the FFR series. Some of the FFR series can transform into something spectacular.
