S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Double HeatMetal

This is the review of S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider W HeatMetal or you can also say Kamen Rider Double HeatMetal (in the box it says S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Double HeatMetal)

First and foremost, as at today 19 August 2010 - I never watched the Kamen Rider W tv series yet so I have no clue what the heck or who the heck is this Heat Metal guy.

I'm still having hard time to convinced myself about the correct title anyway - is it Kamen Rider Double or is it Kamen Rider W? 1 thing for sure, it is not Gundam Wing.

In Wikipedia, they mentioned it as below;

"Kamen Rider Double (仮面ライダーW(ダブル), Kamen Raidā Daburu) is the eleventh series in the Heisei period run of the Kamen Rider Series and the twentieth Rider series overall. It premiered following the finale of Kamen Rider Decade on September 6, 2009."

From the Japanese character, I make the assumption that Kamen Rider Double is the correct one....

Well... at the end, I don't give a damn, it's easy to memorize simple name like Char Siu Pow or Chow Chi Bai or maybe Hentai rather than to think of such confusing stuff.

According to what I read from Wikipedia and here and there around internet world, this HeatMetal is the second form used by Kamen Rider Double, first appearing in the Decade movie All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker.

It is colored red and silver and is accessed from the Heat and Metal Memories. In this form, the damage from the Metal Shaft is increased by fire.

A common tactic used by Double is to turn around while changing to this form, using the Metal Shaft on his back to block enemy attacks. Its finishing attack is the Metal Branding, causing one or both ends of the Metal Shaft to ignite on fire and deliver a final blow to the opponent

Apart from that HeatMetal work in a cafe somewhere in the Chinatown of Shewsbury Land. He loves to watch Japanese Adult Video and love to eat "Pai Kut Wong Fan" (fried rice with pork rib in red sauce) and he love to drinks Coca Cola. Last but not least, he support Manchester United.

Well, enough of that nonsense, let's have a look at the figure...

The box...

Out of the box...

You will get all these stuff;

The figure...

2 pairs of extra hands, the signature Metal Shaft weapon (short and long mode) and as a bonus the Metal Branding effect parts.

As usual, let's have a look at the figure...

The details and finishing is what we would expect from Bandai S.H. Figuarts series.

But my complains on this figure is those imperfection found on the "metal" or left side of the face and chest part.

Look at the photo below... focus on the left eye, look down below it... you can see black marks...

And on the photo below, look at the left shoulder and chest, a little bit down... again you can see that black mark....

Apart from that, the rest are all good....

Articulation is never an issue, this figure can do many pose that you can think off, all in all, it has excellent articulation and pivot points. Big brother Bandai said that S.H. Figuarts is a new standard figure series that incorporates the Bandai action figure "Art" with the theme of "Pursuing Character Expression" through "Humanoid Action".

And now, it's action pose time....

Kamen Rider Punch - "Mo Ying Sau"

Sho Ryu Ken...

Sonic boom....

And now, the typical Kamen Rider Kick, "Shimapan Kick"....

Let's see some pose with the weapon.... Metal Shaft...

You can mounted the Metal Shaft (short mode) at the back of the figure...

There is this tiny hole here for you to attached it...

And thanks to the dynamic range of the articulation and movement, he can grab the weapon accordingly with ease....

Ruyi Jingu Bang (Nyoi Bong)...

I personally think that this weapon is quite cool....

I think that is enough, otherwise we will end up with too many photos in this review... you can do any action pose that you like or can think off if you have this figure.

And now it's time to say hello to the "Senpai" - Kamen Rider AV that looks like the classic Kamen Rider.

Overall, this MetalHeat action figure from Bandai S.H. Figuarts series is nicely detailed, finished with care, extremely poseable, and reasonably priced - not far from the region of the popular Figma series.

My only complain is those black dot or mark found on certain parts of the face and body but that probably only happen to this specific unit only. Maybe some of you got the perfect one.

For Kamen Rider Double fans, surely they would love to get this figure and probably all the variation/form available in the TV series.

I personally love this HeatMetal simply because of the red/yellow color - the color of Sazabi, Neo Zeon and Shewsbury Land....

If I happen have the extra motivation, I don't mind to paint the "metal" half (of the left side) of this figure with red and yellow line as well and make him as the mascot of Shewsbury Land for fun sake but then again... I'm too lazy to touch those painting stuff.... but you'll never know, in Shewsbury Land... surprise can happen....

Ohoho, paint the metal side red and yellow does makes him the mascot. =D

And I was hoping both of them would do a Rider Kick as a finisher. XD

  3. I only buy this 1 so far... not sure about the rest yet, most likely no... I like this one simply because of the red and yellow color...

There is always other figure series than S.H. Figuarts to be considered but some people only knew the existence of S.H. Figuarts, SIC and SIC KT when they look for Kamen Rider figures..

Well can't blame them, Bandai seems to promote S.H. Figuarts series as top of the class anyway...

  4. Oh by the way, looking at the design from photos around the web... Bandai developed the WFC series based on the transformable FFR series.

There are many similarities on the figure design aspect.

  5. OK.I not really fond on S.H figuarts IMO the looks too skinny, but yes lately S.H figuarts released so often and have a lot of limited/exclusive stuff that make me not really interested so start collecting them.FFR and WFC looks nice but I miss old SH figures :(

  6. I want this too! Heatmetal is my favourite W form, the other being of course, Fangjoker. But I have decided to wait till December for the MG version of the Heatmetal to be out. I prefer model kits.^^
Btw bro, the title can be both double or W, as the Japanese pronounce W the same way as Double. Or so I heard.

  10. Leon, I will consider that... unfortunately I'm on the verge of retiring from touching any GunPlaMo kits - but then, nothing is certain...

Sometimes just when you thought you are out, they pull you back in....

  11. 1 question.. where did you get the flame effect? mine does not come with the flame :(

  12. Ah DJ, same here ^^ I am moving more into collecting figures than actually building them....if you noticed I didn't buy much gunpla since last year haha:P Just want the time to focus on other things like photography and stories instead!
