Cosmic Region Legend Gundam (ZGMF-X666S)

This seems to be the final GFF to appear here this year and we hope to get more GFF next year.

This is GFF Cosmic Region Legend Gundam (ZGMF-X666S) which also provide the upper body part of Providence Gundam. The advise from HLJ; "Get two sets to display both awesome figures side by side!" - and I am so regret for ignoring that advise and just bought one... I should've bought 2...

You know why? 2 reason for it...

They give 50% discount on this item a few weeks ago with free shipping offer as well and the next time I have to pay full price plus shipping charges.

The second reason... finally I get the best ever GFF and I almost say perfect.

Yeah, usually most people (including me) will have at least have a few complaints (some will have plenty more) on their regular GFF.

Nonetheless this time around... I feel so happy as everything turn out to be great and as it should be. Well, there is still of coz some painting error from the factory here and there but I can live with that. More important to me is that on this particular unit, everything seems to be perfectly sturdy, firm and fits very well.

I don't have to worry about certain parts feel lousy or loose and easily fall down which can be annoying especially when you want to do some posing on them.

And yes, articulation wise GFF can never beat the modern HG 1/144 kits but this particular unit can perform quite well on that particular subject and best of all, no parts will fall down and that means no annoyance.... I am super happy with it.

This is what GFF should be... if all GFF can be as good as this particular unit that we have here I believe there will be less complaints about it from all the other collectors around the world...

And if I knew that this GFF can be as solid as this, I will buy not 2 but 3... that's how happy am I with this Legend/Providence.

Nonetheless, I must also mentioned that even though this particular unit is quite great there is no guarantee that the other unit can be quite equivalent.

Buying GFF is all about luck... sometime you get the good one like this and most of the times you will get the average and thus why Bandai created the "upgraded" and more expensive series called GFFN which used die cast metals as part of the inner frame to make it more sturdy and durable and overall much better quality than the normal GFF - hence the high price.

And now Bandai also created another series for 1/144 scale Gundam figures - the highly acclaimed and yet again expensive Super HCM Pro.

For your info if you don't already know;

GFF stands for Gundam Fix Figuration.
GFFN means Gundam Fix Figuration the Next Generation.

From Wikipedia.

The Gundam FIX Figuration (aka G.F.F.) is a series of collectible figures was started based on the Gundam mechanical designs of Hajime Katoki and his 'Gundam FIX' illustration artbook and are released by Tamashii, a Bandai's characters based toys line.

These figures share similar features as those found in the MSiA series, but are considerably more detailed and often include more accessories. Changeable parts and variant models are often utilized throughout the line, offering the collector a wide variety of display abilities.

The collectible figures use PVC (with some ABS plastic) for construction materials, and a recently introduced expansion to the line use metal in the skeleton of the figure. Gundam FIX figures are designed to be true to Hajime Katoki's vision, and as such often adopt design elements and styling found throughout his artwork.

The Fix series caters to Gundam fans who enjoy the scale, possibility and durability of the MSiA line, but seek the extensive details and variations that can often only be found in the Master Grade Gundam model-kits.

Bandai also created similar toy lines:

* G.F.F. Metal Composite - a spin-off of the G.F.F series utilizing injection-molded ABS plastic and die-cast metal.

* Zeonography - a spin-off of the G.F.F series that showcases mobile suits from the Zeon forces.

* Cosmic Region - high-quality line of mobile suits, similar to G.F.F., that appear in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

* 00 (Double Zero) Region - high-quality line of mobile suits, similar to G.F.F., that appear in Mobile Suit Gundam 00.

* G.F.F.N - Gundam Fix Figuration Next, '004X' Series utilizing metallic parts, slightly larger scale, better quality paint job and markings. The first figure is a re-release of the #0030 MSZ-008 Zeta II, released March 2009.

So let's have a look at the Legend...

The box...

Out of the box... maybe what you see here is mostly have been already "pre-assembled" by me and thus seems to be not so much... when you first take them all out of the box... there seems to be too many of them... all those DRAGOON units is separated and unattached as you can see from the above photo...

So you will get the Legend Gundam

The upper body part (including head and arms and the back pack of course) of Providence Gundam...

The rifle and beam shield of Legend

Plenty of extra hands for Legend and Providence, the composite arm shield for Providence, beam saber that can be combined to become a beam javelin for Legend, the rifle for Providence...

And of coz the legs and skirt armor as well as additional DRAGOON's part for Providence...

And last but not least the standard GFF action base/display stand...

So let's start with Legend Gundam.. in fact this is the reason why we wanted to get this particular GFF...

Legend originally designed by Okawara Kunio but with Katoki Hajime GFF touch make this Legend looks more sexy and attractive with those slightly longer and slimmer legs...

Let's have a close look on the figure...

That head/neck part is the only complain I have for this unit. The neck seems to be too short and thus articulation/movement of the head is almost impossible and it seems the head's positioning is not quite straight.... more like, resting on the right side...

And yes that's all the complain I have and nothing else.... enjoy the great details and markings of GFF and Katoki...

Of coz there is still some painting error or inconsistency but it's pretty minor and I can live with that... in fact I don't mind at all coz eventually I don't do any painting job and thus even if do it, I cannot achieve such nice result presented in this particular unit...

We cannot expect much on articulation point for GFF but surprisingly this Legend can perform this kneeling pose without any problem what so ever.... again it is so enjoyable to pose him as no parts or stuff will fall down to annoyed you....

Lovely, absolutely lovely...

Feels very comfortable...

Maximum stretch of the arms and legs....

OK... it's action pose time... this Legend with his MA-BAR78F high-energy beam rifle... doing the GFF stance or Katoki stance....

We hardly see legend fighting on the ground in Gundam Seed Destiny right? he is always flying high in the sky and thus it is better to pose him on the nice action base/display stand...

The back pack can be fold or flip just like in the anime... which is the correct word? Fold or flip?

The beam shield which I don't fancy so much...

The beam saber... honestly I can't remember anything about Legend using beam saber...

You can combined those 2 beam saber to become a beam javelin... and yes I do remember seeing the Legend using the beam Javelin...

Final pose and photos for this absolutely brilliant GFF of Legend Gundam...

At 4,500 yen (about SGD 70.00 / NZD 70.00 / AUD 56.00 / USD 50.00) normal retail price in HLJ before adding whatever shipment charges there is, this is not cheap and as I said in many of the previous review of our GFF and also GFFN, this particular toy/figure series from Bandai is most of the times are only intended for the serious or hardcore collectors of Gundam who love the great details and marking and all the extra accessories.
