S.U.G.O.I. Layzner (SPT LZ-00X)

This is the expensive S.U.G.O.I. SPT-LZ-00X Layzner Action Figure which cost 5,600 yen in both HLJ and Hobby Search - that's about SGD 88.00, before adding the shipment charges.

Nonetheless, we are lucky to be in Shewsbury Land as we get some great discount and we manage to get this item for just SGD 60.00, though it is still expensive but if you consider SGD 88.00 plus shipment charges, say for example another SGD 28.00, which make you end up paying over SGD 100.00, obviously the price we pay SGD 60.00 including shipment is indeed cheaper.

Price aside, in my opinion this is a unique figure or mecha. Despite being a "robot" like figure, I love the fact that it is also operated by human pilot... something like Gundam...

Sugoi in Japanese means 'Amazing' but for Kotobukiya it is actually S.U.G.O.I = Super Ultimate Great Original Item... very creative product name/brand indeed.

This Lazyner is actually from the classic 1985 anime show "Blue Comet SPT Layzner" which I have no clue about it whatsoever.

If you interested to know more, you can read some information about the anime in Wikipedia.

And so now we go straight to the review...

The box...

The box/packaging is very nice... we love it so much... no wonder the price is so high...

Out of the box...

You will get all these stuff...

The Layzner...

Optional hands, rifle, nice action base/display stand...

And all those back pack add on set as well as the manual to guide you thru...

The Layzner standing on the action base/display stand...

It says = Layzner Super Powerd Tracer...

Let's have a look at the Layzner body...

Now 1 of the feature that I like the most... the "Hero Module" pilot cockpit on top of the Layzner head...

And yes, you can open up the cover to see the pilot inside... If you see with your normal eye view, the pilot figure looks OK but when in the photo below I use the Massa Macro Lens to magnify the view and then the pilot figure look like this;

The details inside the pilot cockpit is so nice... we can even see those dashboard and all the monitors, speakers and maybe extra buttons or what ever... very nice...

Size comparison with a can of Coca Cola or Coke...

Basically this is about the same size as the 1/144 scale Gundam... roughly about 5 inches or 12.5cm

Another great features of this item is the ability to see those hidden engine parts on all the 4 limbs of it...

With all of the cover being open...

And once you get bored with it, you can just close it back...

Now just like those Gundam in Cosmic Era, this model comes with the back pack (UV 00D) to enable it to fly high...

And now I just put the Layzner on that action base/display stand that comes with a nicely articulated figure holder to enable you to pose the Layzner in various ways mid air.

By the way that is the main weapon of this model.. a rifle, probably beam rifle and the model number is LDR 00R...

And now I attached the BPP 03C... some sort of big heavy gun or bazooka maybe - mounted on the backpack just behind the right shoulder...

And last but not least the additional wing part on the back pack (BPP 04A)...

Now it feels like those MS from Cosmic Era...

Last but not least, some out door photos...

So this is indeed a very nice and unique mecha figure (or robots)...

There are 1 pair of extra part that I didn't mention above and that is a pair of "Calf Missile". If you see the 9th photo, there are 2 white stuff near the optional hands... that is the "Calf Missile" and basically you put that stuff onto the calf and then latter you can take it out, pull out some hidden wing part on it and it become a missile....

Though I never mentioned anything about articulation and action pose but I believe you can see in many of the photos above that this Layzner surely can do some posing but honestly I would say the action pose ability is not really "perfect" or as great as Figma but at least it can match most of the Revoltech mechas action pose ability - which is not bad at all... So in other word, the action pose ability of this Layzner is quite decent.

Though it lacks the great decal markings like what we always enjoy on every Bandai GFF products but at least Kotobukiya compensate us with the openable pilot cockpit and those inner engine parts around the limbs.

At the end it make me saying the word "sugoi". We are quite happy with this Layzner and we would say the box/packaging is one of the best we've seen so far - easily beat the box/packaging style of Bandai's GFF.

I decided to get 1 more of this item and keep it as a stock for Christmas present which is just about another 2 months to go... I believe this can be a very nice Christmas gift.

At this point of time some of us might say December is still a long way to go but as the days goes by... next thing you know it is already weekend and then soon it's month end and come another month... Time move so fast that sometimes we take it for granted.

Another reason to buy 1 more unit of the similar item is that I decided to fool around with this Layzner and do some modification or add ons...

As you can see in the outdoor photos... the left arms is already equipped with the big bazooka from the Snake Eyes action figure. Basically this Layzner left arm cannot be articulated on the elbow part now but on the shoulder part it is still OK. I "super glue" that big bazooka there to make the Layzner looks more intimidating and maybe soon I will think of other thing that can enhance the look of this Layzner.

So worse can scenario, I will still have a brand new one but if it turn out to be OK, I will stick with the existing modified unit and just give away the extra unit as Christmas gift.. I'm sure many would want it... Do any of you want it as Christmas gift from Shewsbury Land?
